Products

In the department Numerical Software we offer, among other things:

  • Software tools which analyze and optimize the results of commercial software. Areas of application are structural mechanics and crash simulation.
  • Data compression software for simulation data.
  • Software which accelerates available simulation packages. This is based on highly efficient hierarchical numerical solution techniques, which can be directly integrated into existing simulation programs.

DIFF-CRASH

DIFF-CRASH is a software package for the stability analysis of collision simulators. Physical bifurcations in automobile design and numerical instabilities in simulation packages cause in many cases, an extremely sensitive dependence of the simulation results on even the smallest of model variations. DIFF-CRASH enables one to locate critical structural regions and makes suggestions on how to stabilise them.

DesParO

The computer simulation of technical processes and products typically depend on many parameters, e.g. geometrical, material and process parameters. The user would like to adjust these parameters to obtain the best construction of the product or the optimal control of the production process. DesParO is a software toolbox enabling automatic optimisation of such parameterised production processes. DesParO is designed to be combinable with all simulation programs and, most importantly, offers the possibility of obtaining almost optimal configurations with a very low number of simulation runs. This toolbox is thus particularly suited for especially computationally expensive simulation codes. As a supplement to the package itself, we also offer consulting support in the choice and implementation of optimising strategies.

FEMZIP

Simply compress efficiently: FEMZIP compresses data from crash simulations in the car manufacturing industry as precisely as the user specifies. This reduces the total amount of data, yet important information is not lost and is still available after the decompression.

SAMG

SAMG is a software package for the highly efficient numerical solution of large sparse matrix problems. These problems occur in application areas such as fluid flow, structural mechanics, oil reservoir and ground water simulation, casting and molding, process and device simulation in solid state physics and circuit simulation. SAMG's solver modules incorporate modern hierarchical techniques (algebraic multigrid, AMG) making them especially suitable for solving large classes of discretised elliptic differential equations. Compared to classical solution methods, SAMG's solver modules have a major advantage in that they are numerically scalable. That is, the computational cost is only linearly proportional to the number of unknowns.
